this could be your tomorrow
did you listen to the whispers?
do you hear the child crying?
this could be your silent night

listen for the footsteps
doors creaking "n" shadows too
somewhere a child is crying
you cant see tears at night

pass by your neighbors place
take a chance and notice
chances are you will find
a life beckoning for you

you could sit back and watch
in keeping to yourselves
avoiding the many eyes
of others who keep to themselves

but, me I cannot do this
for me it would be my luck
to turn away from humanity
"n be arrested holding a rock

I listen for children playing
as I cry for their tears
so many days will pass
my heart belongs to them
