so, begins this story of angels
each flying and swooping upon me
being a simple man
I thought, I was to die

but, as each moved past me
and hovered towards me slowly
I thought, I saw grace
God, protect my sanity, I cry

once, when I saw these angels
they had circled momma
as I watched in amazement
shh, is what they said

from beneath their heavenly wings
they brought forth, magnificent instruments
each one bearing a different tone
majical yes, it seems so true

one glorious angel, played her flute
and the next, played her mandolin
pain was beginning to be a memory
other angels, played their harps

as they played so gloriously
notes ringing into the skies
momma remembered her pride
a memory kept, till she died

and so now, they have descended
as they gather, I'm not afraid
she is strong, I am told
the music is so, beautiful

the wonderful sight of angels
it's a sight and sound to behold
in a few moments, they will sing
now, they want to take my hand

a touch as sweet as, your song
I fear your not, a passer-by
angels sing for me and play
it has become, my time

it matters not, they say
as they hand me, my drums
you shall play amongst us
and forever, for others
