Shame

when the fools have all arrived
what do you do at age five
play with Barbie and Ken
or, pretend to be asleep again?

please dont awake me
these eyes they cannot see
my tiny arms are sore
"n" my heart is forever sore

momma please, no more drugs
stop hangin out with the thugs
my veins they are my own
"n" no teardrops will be shown

tell your man to claim you
so, that I may be claimed too
the parties and the bunches
the sound of lil bone crunches

was it just fate in "the name"
why you named this baby "Shame"?
take the band from my arm
at five I never meant you no harm

forgive me should I not awake
this time I wont, by Gods' sake
please bury me with my tricycle
tonights sleep is simply a miracle
