I do not watch much T.V. and boy I'm glad I don't

That box can make you think  of things that you don't really want!

'Neighbours From Hell' vicariously, you say, 'But that's not us!'

What effect upon your brain cells, you can't make a fuss!

Follow that with what it's like to be as rich as f*ck

Breeding Rage and Jealousy at your rotten luck!

I do watch T.V. at some times when I go round to mates

I do get shocked by what I see, but is it far too late?

Far too many cannot see because they are inured

To what they see upon the box, I fear there is no cure!

Propaganda, Thought Control, Emotions put on edge

The Stress on other people's lives, over someone's hedge!

'You're not affected by T.V!' The Money Moguls squeak

You won't believe it, but you are, your prospect's pretty bleak!

For you don't think the toughtd you have, they're buried under tons

Of whatever they want you to think and still you think it's Fun!

What Hope is there? I have no answer, I'm just glad that I'm

Not subject to the Thought Control of the Magic Eye!

Those that have the T.V. Box, much chance they will believe

That they're controlled by what they're subject to each day and eve'

A lonely voice cries out 'Hey Dudes! Reclaim your Mind and Brain!'

A diffrent connotation of the old phrase 'The Brain Drain!

Old George Orwell got it right the Thought Police are here

Am I just a Dissident, out on my own? Fair square!

I'll stay out here and if I may seem slightly nuts to you

At least I go with what I think, not pushed by what I view!

So, Adios, Aufwiedersehen and if you still can't see

You be programmed by the box.....

And I will program ME!

Without TV, what would shape this nation's values? How would we know who will be the next American Idol? How will we know which club Lindsey Lohan's Appetite for Self-Destruction performance is in tonight? We need TV ... don't we?

Very enjoyable poem. Great job.

My uncle who lives in Oregon hasn't had a TV for at least thirty years. I, on the other hand, have a large screen HD 1080. But I only watch a few harmless shows, and love the Discovery Channel. My favorite media are the Sunday comics.
So--no, there are those who don't think you insane, S.R.
I enjoyed the write, thanks for sharing and best wishes.

I concur wholeheartedly! TV is indeed the one-eyed god. Great write! Are you a Hawkwind fan by chance?

Good for you, and I agree for the most part...too much TV is mind-numbing. Selective viewing, though, is still a good thing.
