What does it take to be really free.
Does anybody know?
Man, I don’t know.
I can’t even tell it.
For real.
Somebody please let me know.
There’ll be days like this
my mama said,
when you don’t know what
you’re going to do.
The rent is late
and the bills are due,
your job is shady and your
girl is too.
Lord have mercy.
So tell me where
in the world is the path for me,
so tell me what
in the world am I gonna see,
when my eyes do rise
and the Sun does shine,
will my happiness turn
on my peace of mind.
Will I be free,
will I be free,
will I be free,
to be me.
Can I get a witness?
The coffee’s too hot
and your donut’s stale,
inside you’re feeling you’re not
in the best of health.
Your family don’t seem care
if you live or die,
what?
your best friend’s always
trying to get you high.
So tell me where
in the world is the path for me,
so tell me what
in the world am I gonna see,
when my eyes do rise
and the Sun does shine,
will my happiness turn
on my peace of mind.

| Mark..where do I even begin with you? I think you answer the question when you say "try your best and do what you can" afterall that's all any of can ever do..I read the lyrics then listened as I always do..I enjoyed both and yeah you can sing..I wanted to tell you though with my twisted sense of humor I kept thinking dip the stale donut in the coffee...when life gives you lemons....the other thing I needed to comment on was your laughter..even though the theme was serious your laughter told me you are more free then you think..so keep laughing, even as you question.. because when we take ourselves too seriously is when we become "TIED DOWN"...has anyone ever told you that you have success written all over you?? Can I get a Amen????? :) |

Yes, yes you will be free!! But only truly when everyone is free... Our interrelated oneness means that when one is not free no one is free! That's why it's so vital to help people become free through our actions, our writings, our humanitarian interest and commitment!
To quote Martin Luther King ‘we are tied in a single garment of destiny. What affects one directly affects everyone indirectly’. What frees one, frees all of us. It is our divine right and purpose to help each other and think of others as we think about our own comforts and needs… both globally and interpersonally. May good prevail!

As I was reading this, I picked up a rhythm, and a beat that would very well be great stage material. As dialogue, this could be a wonderful play, something about perhaps living in the ghetto, trying to escape the streets, the high scene, trying to fit in to a different day of Light. Mark, you have incredible talent and you put it to good use here on the den and I would suppose other venues which we're not aware of. With the caliber of writing you produce, you can free yourself. Finding the right channels is tough, but man, when you get it there, I'll "run that by you one more again."

*Yes, I had trouble yesterday downloading the Mp3, but this morning after your message, I listened to Rahyt Days Like This, your Mp3. What I heard is serious upbeat poetry put to rhythm and beat in a soulful voice. You do audio very well and in an entertaining manner. When I read your poem posted on AD of the same name Days Like This, I commented that I envisioned it done in play format. After listening to your accompanying audio, I also envision this project being presented by you and your brothers at schools for grade school and high school students, perhaps followed up by more audio selections on reaching dreams and goals. Also, Amazon.com is listing audiobooks now. Think about putting together a CD Days Like This and listing it. I am going to paste some of this message into the review I gave to you yesterday.
