A mother is there

to kiss a scraped knee

when you take a fall.

A mother is there to

offer hugs

when you're feeling small.

A mother is there to

listen to growing pains

any hour of the day.

A mother is there to

offer kind words

since she too,

has been that way.

A mother is there to

tuck you in,

at the end of a long day;

to cuddle you with hugs and kisses

that assure everything's okay!

A mother is always close by

Even when daddy is not,

to offer love in magnitude,

since sometimes daddy forgot.

A mother is there

even though miles

may separate you two.

A mother is there covering

with prayer

Every trial you walk through...

A mother is there to point you,

in the right direction.

Even though you may not agree

with a need for correction.

A mother is there to remind you

of a love that does not quit.

God placed and formed you in a womb

with likenesses closely knit.

 For you created my inmost being;
       you knit me together in my mother's womb.  Psalm 139:13
