One Petal

A single rose from a child’s hand,

a simple last goodbye,

hesitantly placed a top the box

where her mother lie.

An innocent tear timidly falls

betraying man-made strength.

Coached by stoic suited ties,

consumed by what others think.

A dark day cannot blame the sun

when clouds refuse to shine,

and roses weep for a child’s loss

one petal at a time.

Very deeply touching. I remember when my aunt passed away of a brain aneurism in 1960. Nobody saw it coming, and she had been to the doctor not long before complaining about bad headaches. I can, and I think others here can too, identify with this poem. It is sad, but also touching. It just makes you want to reach out and hug this child and tell her everything will be fine. Of course those words would be meaningless at such a time, but will be remembered later on. Thank you sis for this very touching poem.

May the Lord Jesus bless you, and those whom you love, and who love you, and be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love in my heart, joy to the world, peace on earth, & ((((((((((MANY WONDERFUL SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), your little sister, Barbie.

Sad, but not overly sentimental; beautifully rendered
moment captured perfectly in the two closing lines.

Deeply, deeply touching. Your tenderness and compassion shine in
every line. Between, we feel the pain and undertanding that
inspired you to create this sad, sweet tribute. Always stay you!

Nothing I can say will surpass what has already been commented, but the innocence of the young lass, not fully understanding, but understanding nevertheless, is heartbreakingly real.

Gulping down the lump in my throat after reading this one Lori, it is so beautiful and so very real. After just attending a funeral not to long ago and yes wearing my black suit and trying to keep my own tears in check to comfort my wife and daughters at the loss of her mother and their grandmother...I felt this deep in my heart. It is pure heart..
