November Leaves

November’s faded

crackling colors

roll beneath the trees

like cocks in the yard,

seduced by the wind,

strutting the colors of fall.

No longer satisfied,

the chill blurs the blues

with hues of red and yellow,

the colors of fall fail

and life retreats beneath the soil

to feed on fall’s seduction.

Pregnant with winter,

a blushing sister,

November hides her face

awaiting December’s decision.

What beautiful Autumnal images you bring to us in these verses, Lori. Sadly, here in No. Texas, we have very little of the changing color of leaves as we retain mid-80s thru October; then the browning, then the dropping of leaves by Thanksgiving.

Autumn or Fall is one of my favorite seasons, as there is a wonderful hush and silence in the forest with the soft carpet of fallen and bronzed leaves

This is simply beautiful, and so colorful too. I love the images you painted here sis.

May the Lord Jesus bless you, and those whom you love, and who love you, and be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love in my heart, joy to the world, peace on earth, & ((((((((((MANY WONDERFUL SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), your little sister, Barbie.

Lovely, Lori. I like this one a lot. It seems we all may be rushing the seasons, here. It's still August for another day. ;-)

This reminds me of one of my 'seasons' poems. Oh well, let's all rush them on. LOL

This is so smooth and so well choreographed, Lori, it plays like a perfect dance upon the soul. Your images are clear and yet they allow the reader to be subjective and see it through their own mind's eye. I have been thirsting for a poem from you, being teased by all of your excellent ku. Drinking this one in, it was certainly worth the wait.
Take care,

Summer has not faded yet as September's door is about to open here in the North East. Well done and so easy to picture your painted scene.

Love the painted motions and rhythmic tumble of these lines. They read for me as if a great maestro were standing before a grove of trees watching leaves fall and conducting a symphony to the floating lyrical "colors of fall." Much gratitude,

One of the best "seasonal" pieces I have ever read. Short. Not overblown with pomposity. Gives the reader something to actually "see" and does it in a off-handed manner which appeals to me.

Well the fall is coming early in this neck of the woods as I look out to see leafs everywhere and the burning bush turning a bright red. Lovely write that is a lovely intro to the holidays month just around the corner.

All are highly evocative with fabulous tones of autumn and vestiges of shifting seasons (and how they merge and emerge)... but I love the strutting cocks the best... you captured their pretentious gait so well - it always makes me laugh how the wind cocks-a-snoop from behind, ruffling their baggy pants and tail feathers! :)) Sheer brilliance! xx
