For my grown daughter-a simple, treasured memory

Little Girl Mine

I remember something

About you

My little love

How the sunlight one day

Seemed to shine not off

Your curly hair

But from it

The upturned line

That was your best smile

The way your tiny

Dimpled fingers

Clutched a Valentine

With two grown daughters and one great-granddaughter, I am thrilled every day with small things from them that bless my life. Oh, yes, I have two grown sons and two grown grandsons. I love them dearly. But there's something unique about my "girls" that touches my heart in ways that move me to thank God for their presence in my life.
My "girls" are one of God's great gifts to me. I simply don't deserve the happiness they bring to me. Each of them continues to be "Little Girl Mine." Because of them, I feel blessed beyond belief!

A lovely, moving poem, Leann. Thank you.

Fascinating, suggestive lines you have there, Leann, about the light not shining off her hair, but from it. They really capture the innocence of that remembered time. Sorry I haven't been back to visit you for a while. By the first weekend of May, I will have done 24 signings and talks in three states this calendar year, so I just haven't been getting everywhere I want to be, in other people's writing as well as my own. So, I'm tardy on getting to a good poetic treat here...Jerry

The glory and beauty of children is often one of the greatest inspirations a writer can have. I can be in the deepest dark mood but upon seeing one of my grand kids everything else just falls by the wayside with a hug.
