Recently, I had a light-hearted discussion, with a certain poet I know, about our lives and moments in them. During the discussion, I was informed that my memory appears to be leaving me.

I wrote this poem as a tribute to us men --- we may forget, but we still love our women and are lucky that our women put up with us.

P.S. Smile, Jill ;-)

I may not always remember a date
I may leave some things in the hands of fate
Sometimes, I may miss our anniversary
But, that being said, you mean the world to me
I may not do things in the manner you do
But, this does not matter; my heart remains true
You will always be a sweet treasure I’ve found
Even if to amnesia I’m hopelessly bound

I may not always see the world in your light
Sometimes, my mind can be as dark as the night
At times, I am as blind as a man can be
And wonder why you waste a minute on me
One thing is for certain, you’ll always be cool
Even if I act like a moronic fool
You are the best gift that my life has been given
Even if by hopelessness my head is driven

I may not always recall your birthday
I may lack the skill to find the words to say
Sometimes, I know that I do not realize
How special these things are in a woman’s eyes
But, this much is certain; my heart’s yours to keep
Even if I may seem ungrateful or cheap
By caring, regardless, you show me I can
Be worthy enough to be known as your man

You couldn't let me have the last word, could you? HA!!! At least you didn't mention PMS in there. That's probably enough for a novel, though, huh? ;-)

Cute poem, Nate. For what it's worth, I'm glad I put up with you and will always overlook it, when your memory fails. I appreciate you, just the way you are.

Thanks.

Jill
P.S. I am smiling!
