Sometimes I stop to look beyond
This haven that I hold so fond
And wish there’d be a magic wand
To bring you near to me
I see the skyline at sunset
And think back to the day we met
Everything, then, was soaking wet
But, still destined to be
I see the buildings and the lights
From one of the most treasured sites
And still I find emptiness bites
The months and days are long
I know they will pass by in time
And, soon, we will enjoy each rhyme
Together, romance in its prime
With every soft love song
With words from Fogelberg and Joel
We’ll share the love felt in the soul
From distance, our lives will be whole
Jointly, our bond shall reign
Greater than that shared in The Rose
Stronger than in Nobody Knows
No songbird could ever compose
Words for a love so plain
I pause, this night, to look upon
A brilliant, well-manicured lawn
I think about the days now gone
And realize something true
The months may crawl at a snail’s pace
But, crawling time will not replace
The memories I'll have of your face
‘til I am there with you
