Love is gained and love is lost
Love can come at such a cost
As warm as sun, or cold as frost
And yet, for love we strive
A touch, a smile, a lasting sigh
Love’s joys ‘til echoed with goodbye
For love we’ll spread our wings and fly
Since love keeps us alive
As tender as a summer rain
Or violent as a hurricane
The art of love’s hard to explain
But, oh…. Love keeps us grounded
I’ve gained, I’ve lost, I know love’s art
The good and bad – I’ve lived each part
And still, deep down within my heart
On love I know I’m founded
I’m not perfect; I’ve paid my dues
I’ve hurt, I’ve scarred, and I’ve confused
I’ve lost my head – this is not news
‘tis now a bridge I’ve burned
When life is simple, love is kind
I now know this with heart and mind
And someday soon, I know I’ll find
The “one” for which I’ve yearned
