I can understand how you became so inspired by one of John's poems. He makes the reader look at things differently. This poem reminds me of those sleepless nights in my past. I was strangely addicted to bread during that time. Nothing on it; just bread. I found myself getting tired when it was time to get up. Enjoyed this poem. Hugs,

Don't know how I missed this gem.
Wonderful homage to one of the greats.
The written word lingers long after the writer has departed.

Aha! Pillow feathers are the villains!! Know the feeling well, my friend. "Thieves of renewal," y e s !! Who has not battled demons until daybreak? I sleep pretty well, as a rule, but demons are patient, aren't they. Something bad bappens, or the past catches up with us, and they p o u n c e. Aeeyiiiiiiii.
No surprise that John Flanagan inspired. Just finished reading a fantastic poem that he wrote. Already forgot the title {duh}. Irish word that was new to me. Need to go back and reread.
Thank you for sharing this.
Admiringly,

John
John Flanagan is such a wonderful poet & a wonderful literary expressionist I can see how you are inspired by his work & within your poem "Twilight Rescue" are the insomnia invaders deeply moving with emotions of this restlessness...and I also love the feeling just before waking...so serene & calm perfections

Jon,
The quality of the expression and the shift and struggle of emotions make this a distinguished piece of writing.
Thank you, My Friend, for the mention, I'm deeply honoured.

| I love the form you have chosen for this, Jon: like a stream of consciousness that goes full circle - from feathers to feathers, from dusk til dawn. The tone seems controlled, hushed and yet is punctuated by some harsher, unexpected word-choices - alien forces/thieves of renewal to set the stage of this unwelcome "peace-prowler". Great writing as always, xx |

| You need to change your sheets more often, them little buggers know they ..... just kiddin, these little things grow larger over the hours of night, as they feast on your worries, till sort of an early morn makes it more difficult, for then, your mind is tiring, and so are they, because of it. Nice one Jon! Jasmin Horst |
