insular

A romantic rendering inspired by John Flanagans latest posting, "moments with Keats". Although my work is that of a lesser, nascent poet.

insular
the afternoon’s declining light softens
glistening hues on the canvass lose luster
pale light infuses with the passion of patina
Wagnerian drama yields to a Strauss waltz

shadows toy with imagination concealed
moments before in the blaze of sunlit day
the rush of crimson hogs hair transforms into
the silky touches of sable mops escorting pastels

insular imagination is a secular canvass
ebony and ivory the breadth of its strokes
painted only before the glory of falling light
in the dusk as fear arrives, dabble into options

when the palette drips with every shadowed hue
the insular brush resolves to appreciate the passion
of romance plotted with the excitement of new
sharing canvasses of opportunities  in soft light

I agree with John, Jon. There's nothing lesser
about you or your pen. I love every line, particularly

i lke the Wagnerian drama yielding to a Strauss waltz,
an entire softening of tone and mood, and throughout the poem
(for which i take no credit whatsoever! and to me you are
never in any way 'lesser') i love the blend of music
and painting images...art is art, regardless of medium

this is fine indeed, My Friend
