Tribute to our AD friend, La Belle Rouge.

the art that is la belle rouge

a belle of the south practiced in the arts, poetry
ordained with grace, intuition, gentle not fragile
her contract an impeccable bond held in esteem
she’s a delicate hand reaching out, touching hearts

for sharing noble thoughts hers is the measure sought
within her verses the intimacies of pure love overwhelm
secure in recollections, tender moments of a romantic past
rouge events lavished in joy saddled with no laments

a beautiful face cradled and sculpted with compassion
if conscience has a face it has red hair, a la belle heart
she makes journeys of the heart principled convictions
listen, on the wind rides the music of a noble poet, la belle rouge

Such a striking, honest and most beautiful capture, Jon, and you have her likeness and persona to a T. Integrity always in her pen and her person. Particularly love "if conscience has a face it has red hair, a la belle heart"; stunningly true and so vivid. I dreamt she came to stay with me last night and it was as if she was the sister I never had; how we laughed together so easily and naturally. This is very special and just right. Bless you both very, very much; may peace and grace be yours. xx

Beautiful and befitting. The last stanza must have misted her eye. It did mine.

And don't forget her many novels. While many toy with selfish or boring poetry, she rises above with romantic insight that touches us all.

La Belle Rouge inspired me to do what I do. I had an email conversation with Belle many years ago and that's why I'm here today. She encouraged me and gave me some very good advice. Here's to La Belle Rouge and her many words that we all love. She's entertaining to read and quite charming. Thanks for the tribute, Jon!

a worthy tribute from one poet to another
and no one deserves such a fine work more
than our own Belle...and she is our own,
one of us for so long she is true family.
Bless you, Jon, My Friend, for honouring her.
