| I like your Haiku. The part about the sun cooking eggs on the sidewalk reminded me of an old tale I heard years ago about hoecakes. If you don't know what a hoecake is, it is flour mixed with water or milk and cooked on a griddle like a cake. I am told that hoecake was a recipe invented by slaves working in the fields. They used the flat blade of the hoe to cook their bread "hoecakes" when they were out in the field. I imagine the term pancake likely came from hoecakes. |

Nice one, Karen. The traditional haiku sets a natural backdrop for a human comment, like this:
the heat shimmers forth,
eggs cookin' on the sidewalks,
I hug my A/C
Or something like (better than) that. In many of the eastern haikus, we see a human note set against a backdrop of nature, something which shows how temporary we are. It's an eastern thing.
Let me try something ...
Blue wave crashes in
washing everything away,
I wash away too.
That's not quite eastern enough, but you can see the direction. I think you will master the haiku skill!
