There’s a spot on my heart in an x-ray.
A little black dot, that is all.
Some claim that it’s just a shadow
while others say it’s a hole rather small.
Sure, my heart is broken, I know.
I feel its edges reminding me each day
that it still lives and thrives in me
even after you have gone away.
I smiled while remembering
the various times of our lives.
Hard to believe those times are over
at least, to your dreaming eyes.
There’s a spot on my heart...it’s broken.
It mourns for your own heart.
It cries over the day you left me
and it cries yet in my own art.
You didn’t look quite like yourself.
Your smile was filled with pure peace.
I waited for you to finally say something
and to put the silence at ease.
Your casket was quite beautiful
I’m sure that you would have approved
Everyone brought you flowers...
They brightened the wormwood.
I could feel you in the room laughing
over the fuss that we had made.
You were an angel right for the taking
and not a life that could have been saved.

Beautiful poetry that speaks of the hole that those we love leave in our hearts, but it is not overly sappy or oozing. Well done!

Sweet pain of love and loss but yet never completely gone, and yes I have felt that black spot on my own heart, even felt it a few times, but somehow the heart reseals itself and moves on just as those we loved would want us to.
