I’m tired of this state that I live in
I’ve had
Too many drunken brawls
With sober thoughts
Too many wanton dreams
With pure intentions
I battle my demons while I pack my bags
For unknown places
and
The whore inside me begs for salvation
the angel
In my head
Says there is no heaven or hell
Only Detroit and St Louis
And their streets
Aren’t paved with gold
They’re cemented with blood and gore
Of old policeman and the
Tired bones of middle aged CPA’s
tight skinned socialites
In red spandex
Decorate the corners
Chasing the hookers
Into the churches
Where they watch priests watch alter boys
And I wonder
If there is a heaven and hell
After all
And if it is maybe in Portland
since
I only have enough for a ticket
to Boise

its just my state of mind i'm tired of, this is where my life is, my family, my new granddaughter, my roots are in the south but my life is in the midwest. i'm feeling very emotional lately, everything i write is likely to influenced by that

Hi Sue,
this I can totaly relate to. Remember, us artists are very in tune with the unseen world. Sometimes it just all gets too much. They say to take us away in the white coats. They need the white coats themselves..We are just very "sensitive" to everything arond us.That is why sometimes I feel the world doesn't quite understand me and I don't feel like I have ever fit in..Does this make any sense..???

Blessings and love, JoAnne

I really like this one. The only thing about it that I think needs to be changed is the formatting. I'm not a big fan of centered poetry, but that's your decision. There are some great lines in this, and I love the ending.
