we line up waiting
our turn.
feasting on butchered birds,
caged like holocaust victims.
no one shouts alarm.
no one blinks.
we could fight
and swear the oaths of freedom.
instead, we step softly,
bow our heads,
and avoid eye contact.
no one fears a coward.
no one captures the raptor,
its flight plummeting eagle-like
to taste the salt of men.
I do fear the cowards... but also fear hypocrits hiding behind bold flights. This is a masterful mind-awakening message, Larry. Excellent!
