Soft shadows fade slowly across the window sill
Blinds desperately keeping radiant colors at bay
Dust floats in this solitary room like mobiles
Suspended in space for an eternity
Constrained by nothing and everything until
Darkness abandons its hold on me
My cocoon of safety and refuge disintegrates
Until I lay bare to the world, devoid of unconsciousness
The fan above me signals a return to constancy
That life has been given to me yet another day
My arms and legs numb from the dreamy sleep
That defined another world lost in random thought
Mysterious shadows turn to shades of gray
As the sun peeks through white linen
Like a small child at first confession
Oblivious to the reality of the hurt and pain
I turn slowly towards the light in melodic trance
Hoping to capture the day’s first miracle
Knowing that my prayers will be answered
From the cries and curses of the night before
Despair drains like a slow open wound
Giving way to undeserved grace and redemption
Light floods the room like a parabolic meteor
Signaling another day of glory and praise
