Dreams

All night long,
I felt your absence,
burning.

In the pre-dawn hour,
hugging the warmth
of your shadow,
I sensed a beat;
but no breath.

Behind the door
of my dreams,
I whispered your name;
sorrow resonated
in the aftermath of
silence.

I awoke this morning,
on your side of the bed,
cold and unfamiliar;
adrift.

Since you left,
I am at sea;
until you return
I’m lost in self-mutiny.
