This was written while I was on retreat. The theme of the weekend was "Only for Today". That inspired me to write this poem of "Only For Today"

Only for today

Only for today I will be the best that I can be.

Knowing that like others I am under construction

Only for today I will let go of the things that I cannot control.

Leaving the work for my masters hands

Only for today I will be fully present

Living in the knowledge that the past is a cancel check, the future a promissory note and the present is the true Gift

Only for today I will be kind to all of God’s creation

To live in peaceful coexistence with all that our creator has made, is to honor Him

Only for today I will love and respect all others

Understanding that to truly do God’s will requires us to love all of his children

Only for today I will be grateful for all the gifts he has given me, especially the gift of writing and speaking.

May I always seek gratitude in my heart for the gift of life.

Amen

Carl, AMEN to this wonderful write. This verse especially touched me: Only for today I will let go of the things that I cannot control. Leaving the work for my masters hands I'm guilty of praying for things and still holding on to them for dear life, not giving them fully to God. I worry about so many things, but in our Master's hands he takes care of things. Blessings, ~Linda
