The Long, Lonely Nights

It dawned on me that the problems of
God's children seem to become more prominent in the night. The fears and the worries we have always seems to multiply and become more intense with the cover of darkness. Then morning comes and it seems we have the strength to go another mile.

The Long Lonely Nights

By Myrtle Poor

Why Lord are your people

Under so much stress and strain?

We can not sleep at night Lord

From the awful pain!

The nights are long and lonely

As we strive to find our way.

We reach out in the darkness

For your help ‘til light of day.

Our countance is so sad Lord

As our troubles weigh us down.

The night passes slowly

As the clock hands go around.

Then the morning cometh

As it breaks the eastern sky.

The troubles of the nighttime

Seems to have passed us by.

The troubles are now buried.

Down deep inside of us you see,

For joy cometh in the morning

And the troubles have to flee.

Yes joy cometh in the morning

And it fills our hearts with glee.

Now we'll sing His praises

As He blesses us you see.

This is something I have certainly been able to identify with since my recent bowel cancer surgery and its resulting pain, nausea and weakness. Your beautiful poetic words on the subject sure bring comfort after many nights in a row of getting up and roaming around the house. Thanks again, Myrtle

Most of us are worriers at heart, but the night is so long cause we dwell on our thoughts and when morning comes sunshine rises again and we feel more able to handle things then.

A beautiful poem with lots of meaning as to the difference between night and day. The picture is perfect for the poem. The poem is well written and extends the feeling of the authors's heart.
Love you my dear,

I agree with you. Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night and my "troubles" seem almost overwhelming. Yet, with the dawn, the restlessness and worry seem to greatly diminish. Thank you, Myrtle. Love and blessings,
