HE HELD MY HAND

When I was grieved, cast down and worn,
And tears flowed down my cheeks in scorn.
God drove the sorrows from my heart,
New happiness and joy he did impart.
He cleared the paths that once seemed rough,
He held my hand and that was enough.
When I was burdened, he was always there,
And all my sorrows he did share.
When my feet were heavy and would want to stay
He would gently guide them on their way.
I only know when the road was rough.
He held my hand and that was enough.
