How Can I Make A Difference

I see the hurting of the world and I wonder where is compassion. Many turn the other way, pretend they don't see. If we can do nothing else, we can say a prayer. By the grace of God go I...

So many people are in pain
I see it every day
Taking the wrong road
They're being lead astray
Hearts bleeding from within
Tears falling to the floor
Screaming to the silent shadows
They can't take it anymore
How can I touch that soul
Lighten the cross they bear
How can I make a difference
Lord, they need someone to care

A cardboard box in the alley
Its somebody's home
How does it feel to lose everything
Your house,  your loved ones gone
I wonder how the coldness feels
When no warm blanket can be found
And the only place to lay your head
Is on a solid frozen ground
How can I touch that soul
Lighten the cross they bare
How can I make a difference
Lord, they need someone to care

There's a mother standing by a coffin
Her son in soldiers blue
Tears falling like the raindrops
She don't know what to do
He fought hard for his country
A war he didn't survive
A purple heart for a hero
But she'd rather have him alive
How can I touch that soul
Lighten the cross they bear
How can I make a difference
Lord, they need someone to care

On 42nd street, I saw a chap being walked over and frowned upon. Happens he was a viet' leftover. The sally ally turned up and I asked if his story was true. YUP! I bloody well yelled at the folk trying to walk over him and on him as if he was not of the human race and gave them the money for a "hotel" he was too proud to come in to the restaurant for dinner. Darn shame, I think he just had a mc'D's instead.
I know it was naughty, but I kinda gave him a few bob to spend on whatever, even if it was drink. The poor geezer was freezing on this cold december night just a few days before christmas.

Powerful call for change and compassion, of which this old world is sadly lacking ... well done, Linda! Love the pic!

We can all make such a difference if we try, it does not have to be about money although that is needed so badly in so many areas, but even such a simple thing as a smile and a good morning to a stranger on the street can change so much.

You do what you can. A poem is a good start. Give a helping hand if you can and hope they can take it to get on their feet and do for themselves. You do what you can.
