America's Tears

Lord, If ever our nation needs prayer
It is today
Television screams the news
Look what the papers have to say
America is in turmoil
We don't know what to do
We hear Praise be to Obama
But Lord, I praise only you
Lay Your hand on our nation, Lord
Take away our fears
We need a great healing, Lord
Would you dry America's tears...

There's children being abused
There's malice in the air
Murderers line death row
Does anybody care
Our soldiers are being killed
Our homeless live in the street
There's someone out there somewhere
Who has nothing at all to eat
Lay Your hand on our nation, Lord
Take away our fears
We need a great healing, Lord
Would you dry America's tears...

Our flag still waves proud
We are the land of the free
But at what price is our freedom
If our nations don't agree
Lord, we need your healing touch
Cover us with your grace
If all eyes would be on YOU
Everything would fall into place
Lay Your hand on our nation, Lord
Take away our fears
We need a great healing, Lord
Would you dry America's tears...

So much hatred in this world
Lord, we need you now
I want to make a difference
If you'll only show me how
Teach us to love one another, Lord
To put down our guns and knives
Dear Lord, I know your wish for us
Is to live much better lives.
Lay Your hand on our nation, Lord
Take away our fears
We need a great healing, Lord
Would you dry America's tears

Our nation is in turmoil
We don't know what to do
We hear Praise be to Obama
But Lord, I praise only you
Lay Your hand on our nation, Lord
Take away our fears
We need a great healing, Lord
Would you dry America's tears...

With the Internet and many channels of news spread instantaneously around the world, it only seems like things are worse. The facts say something different. While from year to year, good times and bad times fluctuate like the weather. The twenty first century is far better than the twentieth.

All we have to do is compare our recession lasting about four years now, to the Great Depression and there is no comparison. Times are getting better, it is only that we are bombarded by every little incident picked up by camera or placed on the Internet for us to see.

At the time of Christ, the Romans conquered whole countries by killing the population, raping the women, and enslaving the children for their benefit. Their games involved killing and torture for pleasure. They crucified many, not just Jesus, to put fear in the masses.

The Ayatollah of Iran, cannot compare to Hitler, or even Stalin, or Mao Tse Tung.

I raise my glass, three quarters full, to you. Do you raise your glass, one quarter empty, and worry because it is not full? What would Jesus say to what I've just written?
