Going Home

I'll be returning to my precious Newfoundland this summer for my brother's wedding....and I can't wait!

She is as much a part of me
As my mind, my soul, my heart…
Her rugged shores; her granite hills
I’m lost when we’re apart!

I want to roam familiar trails,
In the land where my father stood!
To breathe her pure unsullied air,
Sure there’s nowhere else I could!

I can hear the old familiar jigs
The ones that touch your toes!
There’s a welcome mat at every door
As every Newfie knows!

There simply is no place on earth,
Where I would rather be
Her rugged unspoiled pine clad hills
A magnificent sight to see!

And when I’ve been away too long
She calls in a soothing tone…
I hear her voice and my spirit soars
Cause I know I’m going home!

My roots are firmly planted there,
On this island rich and pure!
Beautiful isle of Newfoundland
You’re part of me for sure!

Beautiful your isle of Newfoundland. To walk the path and
breathe in the purest of air. How lovely Anna. Enjoyment

They don't call it, “New Found Land,” for nothing. To be from there must be wonderful. I could only hope to go there someday. Have a great time on your holiday and enjoy the pure air.

When I was in the U. S. Coast Guard, the ship I was on would pull into Newfoundland in the winter and Bermuda in the summer... Never the other way around. I'm so sorry that I didn't take advantage to explore your country when I had the chance. Lovely words, my friend.

Although I was born and raised here in Nova Scotia and my father was from PEI, my mother was a Newfoundlander so I grew up loving the songs and stories of her home and have always truly considered myself a Newfoundlander. So enjoyed this one a lot.
