Dedicated to my son, Josh, who means the world to me!
I'm sure you have heard this adage of old,
Perhaps for you some truth it may hold--
"A daughter's a daughter all of her life,
A son's a son till he gets him a wife."
Well, I have an only child who's a son,
So until he gets a wife, he's just one.
Then in their union, the one becomes two,
And to each other their love will stand true .
The love they share is not like another,
So is the love of the son and mother.
For the heart has rooms big enough to share,
When the bond for the "fam-i-ly" is there!
The mother-in-law must not be a threat,
But rather should be to both an asset!
No matter the mood nor time, they will know
Her home is a place where either can go.
The love of a son should never wax cold,
But grow through the years as mother grows old.
He'll never regret the bonds in this life,
That only he shares with his mother and wife!
