Happy New Year!
New Year’s resolutions made, oh yes, now written down,
Exaggerated expectations aired all over town-
The hype and good intentions flow, like promises to make
This New Year be the best one yet, no matter what it takes!
The battle of the bulge is once again the public theme,
With diets, exercise and pills, don’t hesitate to dream!
For soon you’ll see that you have made yourself those abs of steel,
Or better yet, can ride a bike that only has one wheel!
Yes, look around and see the things that man sets out to do,
To bring about more self-esteem and candid point of view…
Completely lost within himself, his focus turns to ME,
He strives each day to be the best that only he can be.
How sad! As our great God above looks down upon the earth,
He sees the degradation that destroys His mankind’s worth.
He never fails to strive to reach into the heart and soul-
Reminding man that only God can truly make one whole!
For God so loved this world He gave the very best He had,
The price for sin was paid in blood that makes a sinner glad!
Yes, Jesus’ blood can cleanse the soul and fill the void within,
Where once was lost, the sinner’s found, his heart is whole again!
So may this be a small reminder of your New Year’s goal,
Don’t strive for all the bliss and wonder that this world can hold,
But rather fill your life with God and give to Him your all,
For soon the trump of God will sound, be ready for the call!
