LIFE’S MEANING
While walking on the sandy beach
She ponders as she strives to reach
Within the deep recess of mind;
In hope somehow that she will find
Life’s meaning!
Yes, surely here the ocean tide
Would help her lay all jokes aside
And dare forget the sin and shame,
That secretly she wants to blame,
For
Life’s meaning!
As in the sand she writes those things
Like haunting thoughts, and nightly flings-
The drugs, the alcohol, for sure
Those things that made her so impure
From
Life’s meaning!
Then suddenly she looks above
And senses in herself such love-
A love like none she’s known before,
Comes sweeping from a distant shore
With
Life’s meaning!
Alas! A figure on the waves
Though silently, yet fiercely braves,
And walks toward her ever slow,
Somehow His image there to show
Life’s meaning!
He takes her by the hand; she kneels
And there in awe she humbly feels
The essence of His crimson flow,
His cleansing blood, He does bestow
Life’s meaning!
She rises with new fervency
No longer bound, but now set free!
For sure this One who paid the price
Instills in her His sacrifice
Is
Life’s meaning!
