"Having a desire to depart and to be with Christ, which is far better."—Philippians 1:23.(the Apostle Paul)

I Am Ready

I am ready to set the sails of my craft called life for the shores of a better land.

To walk with God unencumbered by flesh and feel the touch of his nail scarred hand.

To leave the worries and sorrows behind and know that he will take care of them.

I am tired of the weight of the burdens of life that wear me out and drag me down.

Oh, Love of my Life, my Redeemer God, won’t you come—won’t you come and take me out?

So many years I have fought the good fight, I have waged war on wrong and tried to live right.

I have prayed my prayers and cried my tears, and hoped for the sunrise of better years.

I have seen you work in the depths of my heart when you broke me down and took me apart.

You cleansed the wounds in my childhood soul and raised me up and gave me hope.

You have walked with me through the shadowed gloom and held my hand when I stumbled. Soon

You’ll hold me close to you.  You’ll dry my tears and soothe my anguished fears.

Oh Redeemer God, come in this place—Oh come dear Lord, fill every space.

Come  with your light. Let me see your face.  The darkness of this dreadful hour consumes me now, how I need your power.

I will praise you now, with my hands raised high.  You will lift me up and I will not die.

Until you come—you come for me,  I will stand again in your majesty.  I will lift my voice

And speak your name.  I will tell the world you are The God Who Came.

You came to me in my darkest night and showed me the path of eternal life.

You showered me with your good gifts and empowered me to traverse the shift,

The shifting sands of time, my Lord, the shifting sands of time.

You dappled darkness with your light and gave me the will—once more—to fight,

To fight the good fight and endure the strain—to trust you to bring me out again into the plains of joy.

Let come what may, I will praise you Lord, I will honor you with one day more.

And every day I will rise to your call and seek your face, and after all, my soul will soar

On wings of Love.  On the glory of your love, my Lord.  Your eternal wings of love.
