If you come someday to see me
And find that I’m not there,
If I’ve crossed the Crystal Sea and
Gained a home more fair
Than mansions here, and company
With angels in the care
Of the One whose hand has held me close
Throughout my travels here;
Remember, precious child of mine,
I see your every tear.
You think I’ve left—abandoned you
To walk this way alone.
You cannot bear the ache, the way you’ll
Miss me when I’m gone.
So that is why I’ve written now, with
Sure and steady hand,
To tell you, precious child of mine
And hope you'll understand,
That Heaven has no boundaries
Such as we know here,
No time, no limitations, and to me
It is quite clear,
That if I’m in the arms of Christ and you
Are there as well,
Though we dwell in separate kingdoms
As far as I can tell,
I’ll still be with you daughter even when my journey’s done,
And in your heart I’ll linger, ‘til your own race has been run.
Stay close to Christ, my precious one, and you’ll
Be near to me.
Hear His words, read His Book, and I know that you will see
The comfort shared by those He loves extends from Heaven
To earth,
His presence never leaves His children— of the second birth.
All my hopes, my prayers, my tears, I’ve sown into your heart
Down on my knees in solitude, I know will do their part
To lead you to the Savior’s love and keep you in His care
So cheerfully I’ll graduate—and know you’ll meet me there.
