The Eternal Flame
By Jim Stewart, c 2004
There is a fire that burns within me
An eternal flame
It poes as a reminder
Of what once was.
There is a scar over these memories
which tries to mask the wound.
But, still I try to find this fire
Seeking the truth and justice.
Oh, how this haunts me.
To be able to smell
the burning embers
Yet, never find the source. The desire to achieve peace within
Brings on an internal struggle.
A struggle with reality.
No, the scars and pain are real.
But Just knowing that there is a flame
Keeps the hope alive.
