Survaying Life

Smiling Eyes

by Jim Stewart c 1987

I can still see those smiling eyes

As they look through my white lies

And they say, "That's okay."

 

And I can still hear that joyful sound

As it tells me that ship is bound

To come in one day.

 

And all those joyful noises heard

I wish for just one more word

That would complete my day.

 

And as I go through the night

I see my guiding light

That helps me along the way.

 

And as the twilight hour fade to black

I know nothing can bring it back

But, there will be another day.

 

And as I sit here tonight

I can still see that light

That will fill me up, one day.
