From the dust - yes we can

YES WE CAN
HISTORIC ELECTION
Carol D. Mitchell Copyright ©2008

Yes we can rejoice in this win
Gold peach face; a chiseled V-grin

Martin Luther King saw a ghost in his dream
BarackObama was apparent it seems

Yes We Can heave a deep, deep breath
For what emerged from the dust; let them rest

White House doors built by slaves
He walks into a future for what they gave

BarackObama “Is” Mr. President
Kings in graves see “Just” how it went

Yes We Can see the smoke from the past
Change has come at last, at last

Yes We Can lay our heads down at night
Seeing slaves once hanging now seeing light

Remarkable young “Men” exceeds being black
So transparent for us all not only just for that

Yes We Can
Congratulations Mr. President

Even though I disagree with him politically, this is an incredible moment in history that many many african americans have worked towards for more than a hundred years. I love this.

Carol,

Finally, with the passing of time great people who have paid the ultimate price for freedom are now at peace. Your powerful poem speaks of glory with a change for a better future, YES WE CAN are wise words to live for - Absolutely sensational!

Thank you Carol, your friend Stuart
