You're either one of us, or you're not, right?

The Square Tube
Step right up folks!
To a world of scrambled brain escapes and soured chitlin burials
A place where only the apathetic and lonely dwell
And the Sterns and Springers play Powerball with your glazed eyes
Where we can wander aimlessly across its deserts for years
Looking for the enigmatic oasis of survival
So that body and soul can quench its thirst with QVC and Infomercials
Lures us to inactivity where cells lie dormant and synapse ceases
Promises us a reality that has but drunkenness to offer
Loads us on the assembly line of closed arteries and intellectual atrophy
Ah, the square tube
Momentary life for the pretenders
Never ending opiates for the masses
And inevitable lethargy for everyone
"But wait! There's more.! Call us today and..."

i feel the same about i phones chained and glued to the ears and eyes of people i used to be able to have intelligent conversations with...ear to ear...face to face. what sheep and 'follow the drum' people we've become. |

You nailed it, Odin. I gave up the square tube, neither cable, nor disc, or anything else. I haven't missed the talking heads and the stupid reality shows (I never watched one of them) or the talent stuff . . . Nothing, I have missed nothing. I have not missed the news, I get all the news I want, or need, on the World Wide Web, not the smiling stupid plastic banana heads who try to indoctrinate me. No, my news at least comes from someone I can respect.
You uncovered a monster with this one, my friend. I HATE television. |
