Vivid, swirling images of things that could have been
A touch, soft and gentle on my cheek.
A flutter in my chest, like a bird trying to escape
Angry flash of golden eyes, all things that make me weak.

Softly, I love you whispered in my ear
Dark blue eyes compelling me to tell all I know
Gentle lips dragging over my neck, goosebumps rising
Not even a good-bye glance, as you turned to leave..just go.

A small mark, forever placed, upon my trembling hand
Three tiny drops of blood red life, to never let me forget
That once I gave my heart away, and watched it crash and burn
That love is just a word to say, a small gift not to be sent
