Dark Tomorrow

Yesterday is gone,
Dark tomorrow didn't make it.
For him, there is no today.

For him the darkest day is tomorrow

For him the pain is just too much.

They laugh; they sneer and call him names.

He tries to ignore it, tries to be strong.

His Teachers... they just look away.

He just wants to be happy!

To love and be loved.

To succeed, to thrive...

To live.

The bullies find him - even in his dreams...

Old names with new pain.

Fresh blood on their already dirty hands.

Escape seems impossible,

Redemption a lost cause.

A waking nightmare that doesn't end.

What else can he do?

Where else can he go?

They just won't understand…

It's better this way.

His mom has those pills,

and his dad has a gun...

He just wants to be free…

He's just had enough...

Enough is enough.

He goes to sleep, or so it seems...

Yesterday is gone,

Dark tomorrow didn't make it.

For him, there is no today.

Escape from the pain has come at a cost...

How long will we continue to pay?

Enough...is enough.

A flashback here for me of what might be what Matthew Shephard was thinking for many years of walking along those barbed wire Wyoming fencelines before he was savagely tied to one and beaten to his death there because of his sexual preference...people have got to be responsible for their own happiness and that includes gay people. Homosexuals are responsible for accepting that there are those who dislike us to the point of bullying, (religious and otherwise) therefore we, as the other species of alternative lifestyle need to shrug it off and go on about our business. Creativity is the best punch in the face we can give them back. Many of us, gays and lesbians are successful artists, and so to me, it overcomes any bullying. We simply must rise above these bigots and showcase our art to the world...be well you.

Warmly,
Sage
