Ship Across The Moon
I watched an old tall wooden ship
As she sailed boldly ‘cross the moon
Her sails were filled with angel’s breath
Her bow covered in doubloon
I wondered could this be a dream
Or a moment from time gone by
For many ships I’ve spied at sea
But none taken to the sky
The light did glisten ‘pon her deck
Her masts were sturdy and strong
Her ropes were tied so perfectly
From her hull there echoed song
Her sails were white as fallen snow
Her rails waxed to glossy shine
Her portholes clear as fresh blown glass
With no mist from dulling brine
I wondered of her loyal crew
And the one captaining this ship
And if a vessel in the sky
Could e'er sink or even tip
The full moon cast her silver light
On my vessel in the sky
And as stars went out, one by one
Behind the moon my ship did fly
