Hi: My name is Amadea. I am 11 years old and have been writing poetry since I was 7. I perform in open mics sometimes, and recently was the co-editor, with my mom, Julie Shavin, of my elementary school literary magazine. It ended up being 135 pages! I got a poem accepted in two different places in the last few months. |

Her cold breath touched
my neck
chills ran down my
back, legs, toes
with every word came
another breath
blinding any feeling
I had left.
The blurred sentences
made no sense --
they seemed to go
through one ear and
out the other in a slow,
drafty rhythm,
but it was her figure that
distracted me --
the twists and turns of
her arms and legs,
for this was not the first
life she had welcomed
herself to.

I think this can be interpreted on different "levels" depending on the reader and her or his reaction to your verses, Amadea. To me, the "entity" is a ghost and so this is apt and timely since Halloween is not far away. (Okay, I am sort of joking with that last comment.) Nicely done. Love and best wishes,
