You said you would turn back your clock
Past the sunlight's rays; allowing each dream
To set a spark of hope for another day
And for an eternity I'd be in your heart

The world stood still
I thought from that day forward
It would stand
In one spot never moving
And I'd cry an eternity of tears
For a plethora of ill-placed hopes dashed
In a heart [[♥]]
Too unscathed for you

Thank God for days, years,
Hours, minutes
For the turning earth
The moon and the sun
Thank God for time
or I'd still be there
Jaw dropped wide open
Listening for your next untruth

Now tell them to whomever you share
Your dreams with at night
While I hold verity in my arms
And he kisses me with vow-soaked lips
And fevered tongue, hot from love;
The champion of my heart and
The innoculation to your disease
You thought I'd never tire of

Stand in your orchard and wait with your apple
But when your knees buckle
No one will be there to catch you when you fall
Eve won't eat the apple if a worm gets to it first...

I thank the heavens I got away
With only poems for battlescars
All of which weren't worth the pages
They were written on

My apologies to the rainforest,
It could have had an extra tree
