Although I love to explore people and places,
I avoid being a tourist, one who never blends in
with the scenery.
In the country, I walk to the rhythm of crickets,
falling leaves or nightingales.
In cities, I stretch my limbs to the laughter of children,
the whispers of friendly gossip, the silence of lovers.
Even alone, I belong.
Reading a book, I am reincarnated
in other lands, other times, other dreams.
Always a traveler, never a tourist..
