Pretty Words

Pretty words are so fancy, so eloquent
Flow from the lips, so heaven sent.
Then CAREEN-so out of CONTROL!
Words, auspicious for the loving soul.
Precariously used, they’re risky at best
Sometimes, one needs to give them a rest.
“To become intertwined as one on this day.”?
“Yeh! Sure, we got married! What the hay?”
And “I love you baby with all that I am”
“We’ll walk side by side holding hands”
Are they not words you’d just love to sing!
Words alone; truly don’t mean a thing.
.
Deceit, for whatever reason is inexpiable.
An incursion of trust surely unforgivable.
Those pretty prevaricating words from you,
So many times; yes spurious-untrue !
Words with true meaning, once joined two
Now words with none are misconstrue d.
‘We’ is a pronoun to describe a whole as one
And ‘I’- will be subsequent to us, being undone.
|
|
Without truth they have no meaning.

I loved this ending
"‘We’ is a pronoun to describe a whole as one
And ‘I’- will be subsequent to us, being undone."
it says it all especially in these two lines...I have been there and I know the pain I went through. Excellent write, Keith.
