We took a drive to Karbeethong Lodge
To have a week of rest
I don’t know what we did expect
But nothing quite like this.
The moonlight streaks out on the lake
The birds sing in the trees
The water slowly moves along
With the gentle blowing breeze.
To sit and watch the view all day
Or at night, gaze at the moon
It is a wonderous thing to do
For it’s back to work too soon.
Take a cruise along the river.
It is beyond compare
To watch the eagles fly on down
From high up in the air.
To get up early in the morn
And watch the sun rise high
It’s something you so rarely see
The breaking of the dawn.
To spend a week at Karbeethong,
It is alas, too short.
I’m sure that one day we’ll be back
To this quiet little resort.

This poem was written about three years ago, after my husband and I spent a wonderful, relaxing week at Karbeethong Lodge (Victoria, Australia)
