Bent and grey, he stood tall
He wasn’t old at all.
Little League games and chicken wings
A verse he did sing.

Glasses yes, but he could see
He wasn’t blind nor to be.
Kellogg’s Krumbles for bird pictures
For Girl Scout badges he downed the mixture.

Slow of step
He had pep
For loving his kids
Was his bid.

He laid down, no more to get up
He was no longer a young pup.
But his heart was light
And the light was bright.

Because he had loved his kids.

It says a lot about the power of love between elderly and youth.

If all fathers loved their kids like this bent and grey man, maybe the world would be a better place. I'm thinking of the story of Kyler R. in the news this week. During my thirty years teaching in the rough and tumble public schools, I saw too many like Kyler. It's too bad that most American's don't think of the education of their children like the Chinese do.

An excellent description of a man who gave unconditional love to children at all times. Thank you, and keep loving kids. They are a gift from God.

touching poem for me Rose because it was just the opposite for me, my dad died not saying anything that made any sense me. Then he left all of his land to one of my cousins

i son of a dead beat daddy,
who didn't father steady.
he left all his land to a cousin,
knowing he had children who equaled almost a dozen.
I tried to give dad the benefit of the doubt,
until the contents of the will came out.
again i feel all screwed,
but my hate won't be renewed.

I went to his funeral and said something positive,
also did a little crying.
