Forgotten Song

Show me the steps
I've forgotten
the dance
The tune long lost
not a trace
of nuance
Notes fly away
captured merely
by chance
Words die unsung
victims of
circumstance

Wishes seek for
just a thread
to restore
Soul holding back
can it chance
wanting more
Hands reaching out
for the keys
to the door
Hopes, tattered dreams
losing life
on the floor...

Somehow the heart
hears a quiet
soft cry
tears whisper back
and await
a reply
ever so gently
what starts as
a sigh
recaptures a song
and recalls how
to fly...
