Have you been heartbroken and cast aside?
Is it hard to lift your head and cry out?
take heed for the watchmen are on the walls
as the truth is disputed around you

I have yearned for intercession
that has left me in tears
and a country move closer
and closer towards judgement.

Breathe into me
and taste the saline
of all misfortune carried away
with each sounding benediction

Don’t be so huddled by yourself
and look with eyes that cannot love
and hands that cannot feel
and feet that walk away from the warmth of light

Your eyes will lie to you
and your hands will cover your mouth
as your feet misguide you.

I hear the passing sound of morality
as a little voice cries in anger
to be heard
but the voice is shallow
and deceptive, cloaked in misery and lies.

Learning who I am when the lights go out
all the things I said come back to me
every syllable of doubt and anguish
are bearing down in the confusion of disbelief

the lights are fading on the horizon
as the price of shame trickles down my face
I close my eyes in trembling hands
and search for the morning star.

Silently you whisper and catch
every teardrop
because the ground is empty
and you don’t believe I belong there
although I know I deserve much less.

Once again I stumble
to carry this cross
the hill is steep
but your words carry through me.

Awesome. You really put the reader right under the cross. The human and the divine and you gave us a great part of Jesus' humanity. For the elemental try-to-survive, thought the greatest and worst test of his life is immediately before him. You made me feel his pain. His anguish, fear, dread, shame. Excellent. Liz
