Forever Valentine

Happy Valentine's Day, everyone. Kind of Twilight Zone-ish and probably not really a poem. I will chalk it up to being a little rusty.

Forever Valentine

In a small café
On the edge of eternity
I found you sipping coffee
Knowing life was getting ready
To offer you something more

Gazing out the frosted window
You said you could see your future
You watched your life unfold
Upon the far mesa
Noting changes and new connections

You turned to me
Your eyes burning through me
You knew all my secrets
You stripped my soul naked
I could feel my defenses fade

You spoke of possibilities
Of life’s untraveled paths
Of mysterious parallels
And doppelgangers
How we already knew the truths

Again you looked to the mesa
You whispered some inaudible words
A surge of energy raced through me
I could see myself, upon your mesa
I watched my future materialize

I felt a sea of warmth cradle me
I watched my body melt into yours
Creating the transformation that would be us
Caught in the vortex of parallel time
I knew I had found my forever Valentine

Tis a bit surreal, but oh, so fresh and honest. That picture took me back to peeks at matchbook covers and key chiins with risque women on them.

Such lovely concepts that you offer in this most apt and timely write, Sherry. Thank you for sharing this gift. Happy Valentine's Day with love, hugs, and best wishes,

??? not really a poem??? beg to disagree, Sherry, cos this seems to classify very readily to me! And happily so... the image of the mesa, or tableland, a wide-open space, is very strong and goes well with the perspectives of far-seeing vision and future: an ocean that you might desire to both sink and swim in! :)) I like this muchly: it is non-mushy yet full of yearning emotion and sentiment. Happy Sweetheart Day to you! :)) xx
