Warnings from the Heart

“Warnings from the Heart”

what falls upon us as impetus for a desire that lies in wait?
the tears of the heart are fragile evaporating in the storms of life
however faint are the chances that the two of us should meet
as we wander a field of dreams where reality fails to tread

should we disregard our steps when the risk to stumble is great?
as our feet sweep the tall grass leaving unseen obstacles underfoot
do we not heed the warnings that the heart is not equipped to stand
with lack of each others warmth or the spark of the others touch?

when we fall asleep at night is it known how our dreams unfold?
can we steer them to the light or do we tend to lose all control?
there is honor in standing firm and in keeping such promise made
despite choices in the breeze that float to the sky or to the sea

is it so unusual to take it lightly when warning comes from the heart?
that what we feel is but an ache that it is empty and must be refilled
not with trite sunken illusions or with dreams that are unfulfilled
but with love and true devotion in recognition of the music it brings

The heart is but a marvelous pumping muscle. However, the mind can feel these emotions you so eloquently describe in ways even a scientist cannot figure out. Such as what you call, and I perceive as “heart.”

Poignantly engaging as you confront the missing pieces with passion and sensitivity. I love the choice of words, the voice soft and wise.

A truly introspective poem. "however faint are the changes that the two of us should meet as we wander a field of dreams where reality fails to tread" ... sometimes there is great joy and comfort in that field of dreams, where in reality, most things are out of our control. Too bad we can not control our dreams at night, at least we would have the solace for even a little while. The heart is a tender organ, very tender. Beautiful poem. ~Elizabeth

Our dreams center us they bring up deep emotions and feelings that we may never realize if we couldnt dream dreams are windows to which we can see our lives unfolding and inspiring us to fulfill our destiny.

How this makes me sigh, Amor! Wandering a field of dreams where reality fails to tread breaks the tender blades of those desires that lie in wait and their sweet-smelling fragrance surely stimulates that impetus which then provokes them further. The heart is truth; it is a fallow bed that receives whatever is sown into it and judges not. It's warnings can be trusted and if love is genuine, each committed heart can bare to live out the truth it guilessly exposes. Fantasy and fiction are not the same and the heart knows which is which. But fantasy can be truth in waiting that we "dress up and play with" in the meantime. How your words make me wander... Awesome and beautiful. xx

Amor,
I personally feel as though our dreams are out of our control, but I also think they can play a small part in real life if we pay attention to them. I guess we should pay the same attention to warnings from the heart. Nicely penned. Hugs,
Sheila

Amor,
your questions go well beyond the merely rhetorical,
they demand answers within us; here i read longing, fear,
challenge and hope..and love, great love

In this writing I feel turmoil in conflict and confluence. It feels like a push-me-pull you . I like the clause, "as our feet sweep the tall grass leaving unseen obstacles underfoot." That contains so much potential of risk in all ways possible. Adventurous read that I find can touch many personal situations. ~~ Diana

Quite a lesson of life and what we can, and cannot, do about the path we walk and the decisions we must make. There is a lot here to mull and ponder, but basically the questions you raise are good questions and we can only hope how we answer them will chart our course for the good.
