Food Chain
The visible flutter,
for too fast
its pounding to be
called a heartbeat,
of the vulnerable,
furry snack.
The predatory hunter
salivates
with pounce almost set
Strikes unerring,
The meat of its prey
Fierce attack.
Table beautifully set;
Good wine breathes.
Waiter plans his move.
Chef delivers
culinary art.
Fine dining.

A nice contrast between the primal struggle of the primitive hunter to obtain food and the abstract and esoteric idea of fine dining today––far removed from its bloody source.
